Issues are the fuel of creativity...sometimes. (Drabble #2)

So, I've finally completed this one. Let me tell you, I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into when I started writing it! I had the basic text finished fairly quickly, but then it was an absolute nightmare to meet the 100 word standard. It was as if the damn thing flatly refused to cooperate with me till this evening. Regardless, I hereby present you...

Pairing: Remus/Sirius (OotP era)
Rating: PG-13 or something harmless like that SFW
Warnings: Sorta depressing, but at least everyone survives this time.
Notes: Written for mustntgetmy. (I hope it's not going to look too pathetic in comparison to the lovely fic you've done for me! ^_^;)

Without further ado - enjoy!

He remembers how he ended up in bed, naked, Remus’s fevered skin pressed against his, even though Azkaban has rendered his memory unreliable.

Tenderness blends with urgency as that familiar bond he shares with his old friend and lover comes alive. Remus gives him everything and takes equally much, until only pleasure remains and nothing matters anymore.

Just before he falls asleep, there’s an apologetic, “Sirius, I can’t stay much longer. Order business...”

He doesn’t care.

And when he awakes later, alone, a cold blanket tangled around him, he wonders when exactly Remus left and why he hadn’t told him.

Ooh, I enjoyed this to an extreme degree! It's not pathetic in the slightest!

Oh, where to begin. I love the blurred quality that comes with Sirius's unreliable memory, the line Remus gives him everything and takes equally much took my breath away, and the ending that is equal parts sad and happy (if I'm not reading too much into your Warnings).

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Thank you so much for this!

*happy dance of doom* Wow, I'm so very glad you enjoyed it! Writing this was a real challenge, so I'm relieved it didn't show ^_^

Actually, the idea for Sirius's memory was born from the fact that sometimes I can't recall the last thing I'd done before I passed out at half past four in the morning. (But I usually do remember it...later. XD) So I thought it could be interesting to make this an aftereffect of Azkaban for Sirius (since we know he hasn't escaped that place unscathed).

And I'm especially pleased you liked that certain line! It's one of the few sentences I knew I didn't want to change even as I was writing the first draft because in my mind, it almost summarizes the relationship between Remus and Sirius in OotP. I think it's an intimate affair in every sense at that time, and I can imagine them kind of living off each other since there's not much either of them has left. Not to mention the whole deal with Remus being practically an anchor for Sirius. (Oh, and besides all that, I was trying not to make Sirius sound too uke-ish in this fic, if you get my drift. ^_^;)

Anyway, I don't think you can read into the warnings too much. The sadness/happiness level depends solely on how you interpret it...

Thanks again for the lovely comment!

I've always felt like the best bit about a difficult thing to write is when looking back on it, it seems like it constructed itself ^_^

I think it's an intimate affair in every sense at that time, and I can imagine them kind of living off each other since there's not much either of them has left. I agree completely. It's a very dismal, but otherwise very close time in their relationship. And I did get that Remus was more of an anchor than a seme! Sirius doesn't come off uke-ish.

Pfft, thanks for the incredible fic!

Yeah, that's it exactly ^_^

Awww, it sounds like you read this fic just the way I hoped! That's so wonderful to hear. Good to know it pays off to be so obsessive when it comes to writing! XD

So may I post it in remusxsirius now? In any case, glad you liked it!
Melmo: Spartamustntgetmy on June 12th, 2007 11:57 pm (UTC)
Being obsessive during writing is essential! :)

Of course! I look forward to seeing it there.

Hahaha, great minds think alike. XD

All right, then! Though I may need to figure out how to post them now that it's moderated... I'm not in any moderated community otherwise, so right now I really have no clue. ^_^;

I think you just post it as usual, but it doesn't get put up right away because the moderator has to approve it.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the advice! *hugs*

*hugs* Damn, these drabbles are such a tease. You convey emotions so prettily with only a few words. I'd love to see what you can do with a true full-length fic. *sighs* I can't remember if you have any of your finished epics floating around....

If you do...links! *sparkly pleading eyes*

Thank you so much! Hearing that the emotions came across is a huge compliment. *hugs back*

Eh, I do have one longer fic floating around - it's that old (and still unfinished, I should add) YGO story. It's written in a different style than these drabbles, but sure I can give you the link, at least: http://www.mediaminer.org/fanfic/view_st.php/132825

*cough* Reminds me that I could stop being so paranoid and make the warnings part smaller. Especially since I haven't even gotten to the juicy stuff yet. ^_^;

Or you can look me up on AFF (username Eien no Ai) where I already have 10 chapters of this same fic posted. I should warn you, though - they could do with some revising, especially the older ones. Not that they're unreadable, but I can feel they could be better...

Anyway, I'm really glad you liked this drabble! I'm hoping to post another one today once I've returned from the nuthouse called school, so if you'd like a bit more reading... ^_~
iggy_lovechild on June 13th, 2007 12:37 am (UTC)
Well, I'll admit I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to YGO (I've read a bit of the manga, so I guess I should get a cookie for that), but I should be able to catch on.

Hmm...I'll read the mm.org version first.
See you later, instigator: Remus/Sirius2 (the_8th_square & teh_indyoudeteron on June 13th, 2007 05:55 pm (UTC)
*hands out cookies* Here, here! XD

I think it's not such a big problem if you don't know YGO too well. That story of mine is a divergence type thing anyway, and the universe the fic is set in is pretty much explained it in over time. Eh, I just hope it makes sense to you! If not, my fault entirely. ^_^;

Nice of you to start with the MM.org version. I suppose the later chapters are mostly all right even in the older edition on AFF, but then again, I'm very very paranoid...
iggy_lovechild on June 14th, 2007 12:48 am (UTC)
Well, the only thing that confuses me is Malik's characterization at times, but that might just be because by the anime's canon (sadly, I've seen a bit more of the anime than I've read of the manga. I stopped watching the anime partway through the Dragon story arch, mostly because I was midly depressed by how pussified Yami was after he lost Yugi. I guess I'd been hoping he'd return to the edgier entitiy he'd been at the beginning of the series)Malik is so strongly controlled by his psychotic other half. I do like the elements of your divergence, though. It's interesting to see how Bakura is almost aware of that which he is missing.
See you later, instigator: Remus/Sirius1 (by wild_huntress)oudeteron on June 14th, 2007 08:25 am (UTC)
Well, my logic is that Malik wouldn't be controlled in the fic since he wouldn't even have his other half like he does in the original. He's in a similar situation as Ryou there. Which is...yeah, it's implied in the chapter I haven't posted on MM.org yet.

Fuck, now I know I'm doing myself harm. *bows head in shame*

Anyway, I used to watch the anime on German TV, but it was that disgusting censored version, so I stopped after a while. Found some episodes online, though...
iggy_lovechild on June 14th, 2007 11:29 pm (UTC)
I seem to recall hearing somewhere that they've been releasing the uncensored versions of the anime on DVD. Actually think I've seen them in the states, but it's mostly the earlier episodes. "Season Zero" as it's being called since the 4Kids dub of YGO technically started at Season 2 as it thought the first season was "too dark."
See you later, instigator: Brokeback Mountain (by billy_kaulitz)oudeteron on June 15th, 2007 04:50 pm (UTC)
I've heard about that as well (not that those DVDs help me when they've been released in the States...). Although, I've even found and watched this "season zero". It seems to me like there's no actual continuity between that and the series that became famous later. It looks like a whole different version of the manga...
iggy_lovechild on June 15th, 2007 09:30 pm (UTC)
I've also heard that they've released a few DVDs with the uncensored version of...shit, what was that first tournement called? The one that Pegasus hosted? Anyway, there were a few heavily editted scenes in that part too. Particularily...something about sone of the compeditors waving a gun or something at Kiba? XD I'm sorry, I'm a bit outta the loop these days.

What do you mean by different version of the manga?
See you later, instigatoroudeteron on June 16th, 2007 04:11 pm (UTC)
Damn, it's been so long...but yeah, one of Pegasus's bodyguards was threatening Kaiba with a gun. There was a lot of censored stuff in that part of the series (but then again, where there wasn't?). I have screenshots from that gun scene on a CD somewhere, but I've never had a chance to see the actual anime with it. *fumes*

I think the "season zero" of the anime was their first attempt at animating the YGO manga, but since it wasn't too successful, they stopped making it. And then they made the anime we know, starting at the beginning again (rather than continuing when they had left off before). At least, that's my impression... ^_^;

Dear, this drabble is wonderful. While I was reading it, I was thinking :"This part will be my favourite part", and then, "oh no, this one's better" till the end. Amazing work. Such angst melted with a hidden tenderness...

I think this is one of the most wonderful drabble I've read so far this year. :))
See you later, instigator: Remus/Sirius2 (the_8th_square & teh_indyoudeteron on June 17th, 2007 09:21 am (UTC)
Thank you! Awww, so much praise here... *faints*

Really, I'm happy you enjoyed it. I tried to make it angsty, but I also wanted to provoke other feelings besides that, so I'm glad it had that effect on you ^_^
